Patrons of Olympic Dreams project extend the stay of young athletes from affected regions of Ukraine in Cyprus

Patrons of the Olympic Dreams international sports camps project visited young football players from the affected regions of Ukraine who are currently in Cyprus and extended their training period until the Cyprus Football Cup final. It will take place on 24 May at the capital's stadium in Nicosia between AEL Limassol and Omonia.

For the children from Irpin, Bucha, Gostomel and other affected cities of Ukraine, getting to the final is a real gift, as is the opportunity to train in safe and comfortable conditions created by the project organisers and partners.

Ukrainian footballers born in 2009 (19 boys) and 2010 (13 boys and 7 girls) are currently training in Cyprus as part of the flagship Olympic Dreams project of "The Future for Children" Charitable Foundation. Together with them, teams of athletes, judokas, taekwondo, fencers and gymnasts from different cities in Ukraine are training.

"You are our pride. You are our future," said Anatoliy Boyko, the initiator of the Olympic Dreams project and patron of "The Future for Children" Foundation, "We are making great efforts for you and your future victories. I wish you that every time you go out on the field or stadium, your main goal is to win and raise the flag of Ukraine!"
Recently, the young athletes watched the Cyprus Cup semi-final match directly from the stadium's presidential box. This opportunity was provided to them by the administration of AEL Limassol football club as part of the project support by the KEPAKY Andreas Sofocleous Foundation.

"This is the second time in a row that our foundation has hosted Ukrainian children in Cyprus, providing them with training and competition facilities," said Andreas Sofocleous, founder of the Kepaky Foundation. "We plan to continue and scale this support in the future".

The Olympic Dreams international sports camps project was launched in the spring of 2022 with the support of the NOC of Kyiv Region, the Embassy of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic and the Republic of Cyprus, Ukrainian and international partners and sponsors. The project's main goal is to support the country's Olympic reserve.

The current camp is the fourth within the project and the second in Cyprus. It is also the largest in terms of sports and the number of children. About 200 Ukrainian athletes will train on the hospitable island in 3 shifts.
