The 6th Olympic Dreams Camp in Japan: Experience That Shapes Champions

2025-12-23 14:20
In December, the 6th training camp of the Olympic Dreams project took place in Japan — the 31st overall within the framework of the charitable initiative. The Japanese side traditionally welcomed Ukrainian athletes as partners, providing conditions for a full-fledged training process and an introduction to the culture of judo.

The camp brought together athletes from the project’s junior program: Marharyta Miroshnychenko, Anna Oliinyk-Korniiko, Serhii Sokyrko, and Nazar Viskov.

An important part of the program included training sessions and masterclasses at the Kodokan Institute — a place of special significance to the history and philosophy of judo. For the Ukrainian athletes, this was a valuable hands-on experience and an opportunity to train directly in the environment where the foundations of the sport were formed.

The Olympic Dreams project sincerely thanks the All Japan Judo Federation (AJJF) for its support, hospitality, and the high level of organization of the stay and training process for Ukrainian judokas. It is precisely this kind of cooperation that enables young athletes to continue their international-level preparation even in challenging times for the country.

The Olympic Dreams project is part of a long-term strategy to preserve and develop Ukraine’s Olympic reserve during wartime. The initiative is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the Judo Federation of Ukraine, the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, and international partners. Since 2022, the project — run by the “The Future for Children” Charitable Foundation — has been providing Ukrainian children and youth with opportunities for continuous training in a safe environment, laying the groundwork for future performances on the international stage.
