The Olympic Dreams team took part in a solemn ceremony of handing over judogi from the All Japan Judo Federation to Ukrainian athletes

A ceremony was held in Kyiv to hand over judogi uniforms from the All Japan Judo Federation to Ukrainian colleagues – members of the Ukrainian Judo Federation and participants in the Olympic Dreams international sports camp project. The ceremony was attended by Masashi Nakagome, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine, and Embassy staff.
“Japan strongly supports Ukraine in various areas, from finance to technology. Our support also extends to humanitarian and sports projects. Young Ukrainian athletes, who are persistently moving forward despite the war, are an example of courage and bravery,” said Masashi Nakagome, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine.

One hundred sets of sports kimonos – judogi – have already been received by athletes from various cities in Ukraine: Kharkiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Slavutych, Chernihiv, Nizhyn, Dnipro, Pryluky, Zgurovka, Irpin, Bucha, Hostomel, and Kyiv.

“The Olympic Dreams project was launched in the first weeks of the full-scale war, when Ukrainian child athletes needed more than ever the opportunity to train, recover, and dream. We greatly appreciate the support of Japan, the country that gave the world judo. This is not just sports aid — it is a gesture of solidarity and faith in our children and their future,” said Anatoliy Boyko, initiator and patron of the Olympic Dreams project

The ceremony was also attended by distinguished guests from Ukraine, including members of the Ukrainian Judo Federation, members of the Executive Committee of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine in the Kyiv region, distinguished Ukrainian judo coaches Karen Balaian and Oleksandra Starkova, as well as the CEO of the Olympic Dreams project and co-founder of “The Future for Children” Charitable Foundation, Oleksandra Novikova.
The Olympic Dreams project has been implemented by “The Future for Children” Charitable Foundation since March 2022. During this time, 18 international sports camps covering 13 sports have been held in nine countries. The project is being implemented within the framework of memoranda of cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the NOC of Ukraine in the Kyiv region, the Ukrainian Judo Federation, the Ivan Piddubny Olympic College, the city councils of Irpin, Bucha, and Hostomel, and a number of international partners.
